I think it's because they want to help more in the long run. The goal is(should be) to get people out of the shelter and enable them to provide for themselves with employment and education. That mall will provide much needed jobs and tax revenue for SLC. It will also help the area from deteriorating. I worked as a welfare sister on my mission. We'd find needs at hospitals and orphanages and they would donate money for projects. I loved seeing wonderful Russians(totally unaffiliated with the church) benefit from members' donations and felt like it was truly the gospel in action. Anyway, my point of the rambling above is I am going to contact LDS charities and recommend t or ask about some kind of work program at the mall for people at the shelter looking for work. who knows if anything would ever come of it and I wonder who is in charge of the mall. But wouldn't it be great if those who need jobs at the shelter could have them because of City Creek. I'll let you know what they say. :) I've been thinking of nothing other than our darn house for the past 6 months so thanks for helping me realize there are much bigger problems in the world than what color to paint a room!cherylhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16546560120429439779noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-534398293882227646.post-38045851750746163572012-04-01T21:25:00.362-06:002012-04-01T21:25:00.362-06:00Thanks for this post and the link of how to help. ...Thanks for this post and the link of how to help. So unsettling but also so inspiring to know we can do something to help. We live in a world of such excess here in the states but yet way too many are without homes, food, and basic necessities. I think more people would help if they knew how (they just get busy and sadly don't think about it). Thanks for spreading the word. I always learn about a new way to help when I read your blog.cherylhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16546560120429439779noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-534398293882227646.post-6971077639554439252012-03-04T07:28:40.273-07:002012-03-04T07:28:40.273-07:00Hi Ash,
